Well, after some long absence, I am back in the Mercedes Benz fold. I have owned 4 in my life in this order: 1958 220 S 4-door Sedan - 1952 300S Adenauer - 1994 C-180 4-door sedan (in Europe) - and now 2003 C-320 Sport. Of course the one that I was most fond of was the Adenauer. What a car! This latest is for my wife to drive, although I am sure I will get some time behind the wheel as well.

I need some help and advise, so I will ask straight-away. My 2003 C-320 Sport comes with 17" wheels and 225/45 tires. These wheels and tires are not suited to our driving, and especially not suited to the roads in Westchester county NY. We must have the worst roads in existence - potholes everywhere and even when they are filled the road surface is so bad that a larger aspect ratio tire is needed. 55's or 60's are required.

I am thinking of trying to swap my 17" factory original wheels for 16" factory wheels and to put on 205/60' or 215/60's or maybe 215/55's.

Any advise? One thing I need to know is whether the 16" factory wheels will mount onto my car - is caliper clearance an issue? Probably not, but I want to be sure.

Thanks to anyone with an intelligent opinion on this. Walter
