Some of us don't even work on the cars and are coming here 99 % for the fun
That said I know the above recommendation will not work because opened door will not stay locked with central lock button. Different models have different idiot-proofing.
On older models you can lock the car with key in the ignition using the rear door or hatch, but wouldn't surprise me if MB foolproof that option as well.

I suppose I'm used to reading OT, where everyone just assumes you're full of sh*t.

Should have used more sarcastic smilies...

Don't know who told you running a car for a short distance and then re-starting it after 5 minutes was detrimental to the engine, but if the distance is so negligible, ride a bike.

Then you wouldn't have to worry about fuel at all, bro

An old post but I found this now. You seemed to misunderstand my post, my intention was to emphasise that I completely agree with you, it was supposed to be some kind of a joke that one might succeed what the OP was asking (close the doors) without making sure that doors can also be opened afterwards. Really I was just trying to add other ways to close doors in addition to your straightforward way. Now I'm just not sure if Kajtek explains this does not even work today, I definitely have not used it since the W123 was almost new car, no need if one keeps hold of two keys on a car with remote controlled locks. Sorry if you found the post somehow impolite or opposing your views.

No worries. Sorry if I misunderstood your intention because sometimes it's difficult to glean a person's real meaning from a short post, especially if they aren't using those sarcastic and smiley face thingies.

Happy Easter.

Whoever told you that was wrong. Just shut the engine off and lock the car the usual way.
