Greetings from Houston, Texas!
My name is Jeffrey. I am the proud owner of a 1973 280SEL 4.5 sedan. When I purchased my first Mercedes Benz, a 1973 280SE 4.5, twenty years ago forums like this did not exist.
When I purchased my Porsche, a 1988 924S, I used the Internet to gather information and search for the best car I could find with my budget. I found a wonderful car that was loved by the previous owner in New Hampshire. I flew up to buy the car and made a great friend in the process. A few years later and after thousands of hours doing research, I bought the 911 that I own now. Another forum member from Pennsylvania bought my car for his son and selling it was a process that made another friend for life.
For the Porsche, I found the Pelican Parts forum where I go by JeffreynMemphis. Now that I live in Houston my screen name has appropriately changed. With the help of fellow Pelicans, I repaired things that only required basic mechanical skills and information. Paying someone $90 per hour for jobs that I can do myself seems like a waste of money. I am a great believer in the value of sweat equity. A solid running, sorted out Porsche 911 is a $20,000 car. If you buy one for $10,000 it will probably need $10,000 worth of work. If you can get the parts for $4,000 and do the work yourself, you have $6,000 is sweat equity.
And so, I am here to share what I have learned about Mercedes, and learn from the others here who share my passion for cars. The Internet has made the world a much smaller place in some ways, and made it a much larger place in other ways. On a daily basis, it is common for me to interact with people from several continents. How cool is that?
Life is good,
