2002 C240 Cassette Stuck

Hello - I recently bought a 2002 C240. Great car, 37K miles, practically new inside and out. Only problem I have is the radio wont eject the cassette and when I try I get the "TAPE STUCK" message. Is there a way to open the tape deck? Where is the tape deck exactly -- I assume behind the display but I am not sure -- does the display open by flipping down or up? is there a trick to getting the display open?

Any help that could be provided is GREATLY appreciated!!!

Welcome aboard, John. Nice find with that few a miles.

Going forward you're probably going to get better info for your car if you post into the forum that is specific to it (W203, down in the sedans section).

You are correct, the tape is behind the display door on the deck. It's possible the door is stuck, it's hinged on the bottom so after pressing the eject button try gently pulling down on the top of it. (Normally it just pops down on it's own.) If not you'll have to decide how you want to approach it. Most folks want something a little upgraded (mp3 inputs, cd/mp3 discs, GPS, etc.) so that's an option. The Beckers are good decks but a bit outdated at this point. But you could get the keys and remove it and send it to Becker, I understand they are pretty fair on replacements and repairs (and they will retrofit it with an mp3 input if you want for $100).

Take care and enjoy the ride,

Greg thanks for the tips -- both on using the forum and the radio. I appreciate it!
