The supply and demand shouldn't be a big deal when I look at the following scenario. MB has a CGI engine that went on sale in Europe (forget about diesels for a moment). In Europe they only offer it on 1 model (the CLS) and the North America they don't offer it at all. Now the W204 is made in Germany (even the ones we get in North America). What prevents MB from offering the CGI engine as an option for the W204 or other models in North America? They don't have to maintain it in stock - they just have to put in the CGI engine in Germany when the car is built, calibrate it to the transmission and then ship it to US/Canada.
I understand that they are many issues surrounding diesel - cost of ownership, emission regulations, etc, but what about direct injection engines? It's not like MB doesn't have the technology.
92% of all people suck at math. I am a part of the 9% who don't.
