1988 320 sel dies, wont always start up right away
I have a 1988 300 SEL. It generally starts fine and runs fine. However, occasionally ( anywhere from once a week to 5 times a day ) it will stall out, and then wont start back up for anywhere from 3 seconds to 5 minutes. When it dies, if the car is rolling fast enough to keep the engine turning, the oil pressure, and rpm gagues still register. When it is dead, and wont start, the fuel pump fails to do its initial pressure generation when the key gets turned to run. Not sure if the fuel pump is the issue (dont think so) or if some sensor of something is telling the fuel pump relay to stop. I have removed and opend the fuel pump relay itself, and it appears to be in prefect condition as far as the solder and anything else inside it. I love my car, but randomly dying is definatly not one of the things I love about it. If anyone has had this problem and fixed it, or has a good idea of what I could do... I would really appreciate your input.
Sorry about the title, cant seem to edit it, the car is a 1988 300 SEL.
Also, i have removed the fuel pump relay, p/n 003 545 00 05, and am wondering if anyone can tell me which terminals I can jumper to bypass the relay.
