and 1970s, actually. Replaced by W123 about 1977.

It seems an early example, i.e. pre-facelift judging from door mirrors.

Too bad it's hard to find silver windscreen wipers.

Unless it's in perfect, as-new condition it's not collectable or a candidate for restoration. Just a nice drive if it's sound enough, but not too economical on fuel.

If retroactively applying today's nomenclature, it's an E-class. W114 or W115 depends on the engine--something not repeated since.

As for "model," that depends on the engine. It could say 250 on the boot or it could say something smaller. And if there's a "D" in it, it's a diesel and likely a 220.

The UK magazine [i]Mercedes Enthusiast[/u] featured a nice one just last month ... nice if you like vinyl tops on Mercedes.

It is basically a really, really early E class (before it became to be known as that).

Yeah, I was thinking on going down the classic road, but my mind was quickly changed and I'm gonna' stick with the W140. (Sorry, The Godfather came to mind when I saw that car, and I imagined it in Black... owch! - Can't touch that!)

Yeah, well the W140 is the car for me. Jesus, if only a good one lands in my hands soon.

The rust was repaired, was primarily above the headlights and driver's floor. Still didn't keep me from driving MB's over the years!

I love the interior design on these, especially the steering wheel... It's epic! Thanks for the pics
