Removing Shift Knob on C55

Hello everyone - I recently purchased a 2005 C55 (which I absolutely love btw). I'm looking to upgrade the shift knob. I currently have a pretty cheap looking thing.

Anyway, I don't know now to remove the existing one, and therefore am having difficulty purchasing the replacement. I would like to look at how the existing fits to make sure whatever I buy will be able to fit.

Any assistance about how to remove the shift knob and/or photos of a removed knob would be greatly appreciated.

thank you very much

Never heard of a C55. Fill in your profile so we know what you're talking about.

Never mind. Usually the shift knob comes off by twisting the chrome lock at the bottom of the knob. The knob should then slide off the shift lever. At least that's the way it works on the W220. You might try the AMG forum for your car and see if it's different.

Thanks DrJfrmLA - I'll try that. I'm just cautious about twisting stuff that I"m not sure is intended to twist ... so I figured I would ask
