Greetings from Illinois

New member from Illinois here, Chicagoland more specifically. Just recently purchased my first MB and waiting on the weather to improve to take it on the road. I bought a 1972 250c for what I think was a great deal and can't wait to enjoy it. I drove it home in some relatively nasty weather and felt bad about it.....LOL. I'd love to hear from others that own a similar model and any other classic MB owners in the Chicagoland area.

Alan, Hi. I'm also a new 1972 250C owner. I acquired mine from my Mother who was the car's original owner. She put only 26k miles on it! I'm preparing to drive it down to Georgia where I'll use it as my primary mode of transportation. It appears I'm going to need to put approx $2,500 into the car (ball joint steering linkage, leaking power steering pump, drivers side window motor, air conditioning fluid, tune up and some incidentals) before driving it down to GA. I'm pretty excited about owning this car. Good luck with yours. Perhaps we can compare notes going forward. Peace!

Thanks for coming on board and joining us. We look forward to hearing more from you. You can post directly to the subforum that relates to your car.

Don't forget also, two things as a new owner.

1. Any time you run out of gas, have a dead battery or a flat tire, anywhere in the USA, just call 1-800-FORMERCEDES and Mercedes Benz will immediately dispatch a tow truck to help you out. Just have proof you own the car. I actually had them put in a new battery in the rain outside my house in San Francicso, once, and the price was VERY fair.

Many owners know nothing of this utterly FREE benefit!!!

2. Parts are NO problem, contact the Mercedes Benz Classic Center USA
in Irvine California, and they will take care of you, with a discount if you are a member of the Mercedes Benz Club.

Again , welcome. I love the 250C, they are lovely coupes, once I even saw one, utterly improbably, on the cobbled streets of Arequipa, Peru (hometown of my then wife).

A car for the ages. That's the 250C. A classic on so many levels....

MB Illinois Club

That's great advice, Cascade, I have used the # myself. I have a '73 450SL that I love. BTW, I have recently started a car club called the Mercedes Benz Illinois Club. The main objective of the club is to attend car shows, cruises and other events as a MB group. We have 73 members so far and have scheduled some exciting events. If you are interested in joining or would like more information, please send me your e-mail address.

Regards, Bob Dolce
