They make more money than selling MB warranty, they get the commission up front. I have never investigated the "comission" money trail purchasing MB warranty. I purchased a 'better" extended warranty on a brand new Caddilac because they gave you a extra year, over the GM policy. the end result was the company was gone, and so was the salesman with his cut.

The ELW is available for your ML softgenious is correct the people ur talking to are making the $$$ on it. Service would not see any $$ from ELW because it is done thru sales department.

I just got quoted $2,970, $50 deductible for 6 yr 100k for Mercury Platinum with electronic option. Anyone know if that's good? I think it is judging by reviews I got here, just not sure about price. Thanks,

I just called my MB and spoke with the finance manager in regards to why I was not offered MB warranty when I purchased my car. He responded stating that he can't even remember last time he sold MB warranty because the 3rd party warranty covered more items and significanly less expensive. Also stated that if you are traveling, and are not around an MB dealer, then 3rd party warranty really comes in handy since MB warranty is only good at MB dealers. hmmmmmmmmm

What dealer are you talking too?
The key word is they recomend it!!!! Gee wiz does someone have to hit you in the head with a tack hammer to relize whats going on?? If you break down and your not near a benz you call roadside to tow it ELW covers the tow. And ELW is 8 years 100k
The dealer is if you dont know already making aolt more than selling an ELW off some BS warranty. Buy ELW if you have problems with it email me directly

Thanks for your input ernie, I don't think anyone needs to hit me over the head. It's more than obvious that they make a ton more on 3rd party warranties. That's probably why price drops $500-$1000 to keep you on the phone. Anyway, I called every dealership in Chicagoland area and getting same answers. They all push 3rd party and say only way to buy ELW is if the car is certified, 2200 to get car certified (sounded like he he just made up a number) and still they just won't quote me for MB ELW. Crazy, I just want to know how much, and not one dealer would quote me. Finally I got a reliable contact for a dealership in CA, will try tomorrow.

Please keep us informed because I would consider extending my 07 S550 warranty.

I would only buy an authentic Mercedes warranty though. 3rd party warranties are not the way to go and with this economy, I,would not be surprised to see some of them go under. Be careful.
