Red face New owner - risky purchase, will need community support!

I am buying my first Benz, site unseen! Crazy, yes - but the price was right to fix a bit and play with the vehicle for about 5k miles per year of recreational driving. Family car is '06 Honda Oddyssey Touring, and I walk to work. I am looking for any immediate tips to service and enjoy the car. 1st - need that front bumper strip between the fog lights. Any and all help appreciated.

Hey, IMD, welcome aboard. Please take a minute to click the User CP link and complete your BW profile for vehicle and location as that is often useful information.

The Clicks are great cars and the 4.3 V8 is awesome. There are lots of fans you'll find in the W208 forum that is specific to your car.

I would however caution you against buying parts on ebay. Accessories, sure, no big deal, but many of the parts on ebay are cheap knockoff/replica parts that at best will simply lighten your wallet. Most folks here use reliable sources such as germanstar.net and autohausaz.com.

The bumper strip you may be able to find on ebay but it is otherwise a dealer item.

At 49K assuming all the other services have been done you can just relax and enjoy. You may wish to pre-emptively change the ATF and filter, if you do then replace the little spacer/connector/adapter on the front right of the trans that is prone to leaking, cheap part, easily replaced.

Sounds like you got a great car, I'm sure you'll have fun with it.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg
