Stuck Hood Latch
My 2001 C320's hood won't budge. I figure other models have a similar latching system, so would post here...
I figure the drivers side latch is sticking, because the hood won't raise the normal 1" or so upon pulling the red interior cabin release. I think the passenger side is stuck in the open postion. The hood warning lamp comes on too.
I've already broken the tongue that pops out of the grille and now the cable has disconnected from the interior cabin release (I can pop it back in though, and it creates the usual "pop" sound when released.
I need to get into my engine bay asap! I need to add oil and this is incredibly frustrating to have everything on hand, though hindered by a latch!! Does anyone know of a way to jimmy this thing open without causing any damage?
What I've tried:
1. hood cpr method
2. coat hanger and plier pulling at middle latch
3. tugging at red release while presing or lifting on hood
4. a lot of banging on the hood
I've looked at another C320's hood set-up and understand somewhat how the system works, but can't get this thing open...
Thanks for your help!
ALSO: Radiator was recently replaced by dealer. I don't know if this would affect anything. Hood started having issues at dealer. Have no clue how they opened it and would rather not deal with them at all.
