C280 brake lights don't work after replacing bulbs
I recently bought a 1996 C280. When it was shipped to me, the battery was dead (five-year-old Duralast International).
I replaced it with a Gold Duralast (H8-DLG), and the car now runs fine, with one problem: the brake lights do not work.
The external lamp warning indicator is lighting up on the instrument panel. I went to AutoZone and bought new bulbs for the five sockets on each tail light assembly, using their recommendations for the C280:
Brake Lights (x2): Sylvania 7506
Turn Signal Light: Sylvania 7507
Tail Light #1 (large): Sylvania 7225
Tail Light #2 (small): Sylvania 5007
Both turn signals work fine, and when I have the headlights on, both tail lights on each side work fine. The hazards also work fine.
The two brake lights on each side still do not work.
Any ideas on what the cause is?
Thanks for your help.
