Hear! Hear!

Couldn't agree more. A bit of an adventure to drive now and then (in good ways and bad) but oh so beautiful, inside and out. I emailed the guy I sold this to and offered to buy it back but it seems he's happy with it. Maybe now that the economy's tanking I should try again?

Marsden, that is an awesome XJ-C! I like its newer style bumpers. Jags have very elegant interiors. Mine even has lamswool carpets. They didn't bring the V12 here in the Series III form because of emissions. I got my 1988 via Canada and it still passed CA emissions.

I thought all XJC came with the vinyl top, but some people (myself included) prefer the steel roof and many reworked the cars accordingly. Is this the case on your former car or did some actually come with steel roof from factory? The good thing about British cars is they often fix themselves! Don't even get me started on the feeling of grasping that beautifully frail T-handle shifter, a unique experience in the world of fine automobiles.
(We're gonna get ourselves thrown out of here with all the Jag talk!)

DBTK, your VDP is beautifully cared for, your cars continue to astound me!

Yeah, a P.O. on mine did all the Series III updates, which I especially like in the case of the wheels and taillights. Neato Nardi steering wheel too, damn I miss that car!

Vinyl roof was long-gone and not lamented. Interesting that proper car shows want to see them though, since they were original equipment. I think they're vile--same as on Corniche coupes btw. Both cars look vastly better with steel roofs imho.

Cool to see a Jaguar thread coming along! j/k ... since the (putative) topic is resale values, Jaguar doesn't exactly come with bragging rights

dbtk, stunning car. Shouldn't ask, but how much you looking for?

daily commute, but no one single ML(previous or current chassis)

Fasten your seat belts. The economical roller coaster is not over yet.

The economical roller coaster is fun though. It causes prices to drop all over the mall. =) That will make up for the loss.

Sure makes it attractive to buy a used Mercedes or other car now though. Got a good deal on my 97 E-420, this summer I'll be looking for a used SL500 if prices stay down.

Mercedes isn't the only one hurting, even my Honda was looking bad for resale value, until it got totalled. Since it wasn't my fault, and I had a list of service records was able to get more from insurance than they were going for on the used market.

Gave me a good excuse to upgrade though.
