Exclamation Limp Home Mode Symptoms 2002 C240

Hello All,
I am trying to do some research. On my specific car 2002 C240. What exactly are all the symoptoms of 'limp home mode'. Transmission gear range, Top speed, etc etc. The alternator is out and all of my dash lights are on. Please help. Will a bad alternator cause limp home mode? I tried to look around for it on here but with 11,000 topics to look through I got a bit dizzy.

(btw look at my icon, it is the same one thats on my dash! haha)
