A160 Gear shift

Hi guys
I have just bought a 1999 A160 Avant Garde and am trying to figure it out as I have no owners manual. The car drives fine- really good actually, but very high revs as if its not shifting to the lower gears. Also what does the "F" on the dash mean? and can I do something about he gears?
Oh and also what does the W and S button do next to the gear stick?
