w212 and 207

Sorry no pics and not much of a review. Just saw the new E-Class and E-coupe at MB Training in Montvale. The w212 is a disappointment. the front of the car looks good but the rear looks like the new Jetta. Interior material is the same as a w204.

The new E-Coupe (w207) is nice!!! Kinda reminds me of the Audi A5/S5. Interior is the same material as the w204 but the seats are very supportive. The w207 is a good looking car.

Both cars are based heavily on the w204. A cool feature about both vehicle is the "Coffee cup".( a feature that will try to wake the driver up if the car is drifting off the road)

I would not have expected a comment like this from one attending MB training but luckily the forum at least is open for all kinds of views.

Looking at the parts diagrams, there isn't that much common with the W204, I guess you mean more like the visual feeling from the head unit location/looks etc?

How come the E-coupe looks nice if it has more or less the same ugly rear? The "missing" rear doors make a difference but not like a night and day.

I would have picked up some other "cool" new features from the E, like the dynamic xenon lights or the speed limit traffic sign detector (night view is already old from the W221 although improved now for the 212 and face lift 221).

The coffee cup feature has been on Volvos for more than a year, not sure when they had it.
