Everybody hold up. There is a difference between being Scottish and being in Scotland. Big Dog, you used 'tx' in your screen name so I'm thinking you are in Texas. Better clear that up for us. If you're in the States, everything that people are saying MBUSA roadside service will do is true. If you're in Scotland, who knows? You can save some $$ by installing a Wally World battery yourself, but there are a thousand things that can go wrong, and your savings will be eaten up by the time you spend getting the car back to 'normal.' The MB roadside guy will do all that for you and you can have a beer and watch some CSI Miami while you wait.

Once you do it once, the future resynchronizing will take you about 2 minutes.
That reminds me an old joke about Scottish:
A tour at Grand Canyon was asking the guide about history of the monument. He explained that for the centuries the platto was raising up, while the river was constantly carving its bed at he same level. Next day the tour buss passed much bigger canyon, but the guide totally ignored it.
Intrigued tourist pushed him for the explanation and finally after some hesitation he explained.
"about 10 years ago a Scottish drop penny in the sand here"

Seriously, being Scottish or being in Scotland, do have the battery charged up/load tested and the charging system tested as well. If you are Scottish in USA, then many auto parts store will do the tests for you for free. You might have a perfectly working battery but worn alternator voltage regulators or the battery was just drained by something.

Some may not believe but Kajtek1 has the original battery in his 1998 ML and I have the original battery on my 1997 E320. Both are still working.
