Iam a new member who is interested in maintaining his ML320. I live in Salem, Mo, which is over 100miles from the nearest MB Dealer. Beautiful area but limit access to auto-services.
Iam retired military on a fix income and intend on keeping this vehilce for several years. However, I have experienced a problem with the windshield wipers... the motor appears to have failed.
The 20Amp wiper fuse has blowen, and blows when replaced. However, the wiper motor circut braker is good. Can some one tell me is it likely that the motor has burnt out or could it be a short in the wiring?
The vehicle is a 1998, ML320 with 113,000 miles. If the wiper motor is burnt out is it within the owners ability too replce it (no special tools, access problems)? Is the wiper motor located under the wind/cowling, behind the engine fire wall? Or, is it accessed from the inside, in the dash?
Any help and advise would be appreciated... it is winter in Salem, Mo. USA and wipers are a must.
