Trying to help my son fix his mercedes

It is a 1985 500 sec Mercedes it is overheating we replaced the heater core put in a new thermostat flushed the radiator bought a new resivor cap and replaced some 12v obect that is located on the top back part of the engine...It is still running hot it is peg out. A automotive store did the work and said it was fine.I would appreciate any help any one can give . I love my kids and i wish we could fix this toghether. Thanks for letting me join
