I'll take issue with the "the S-class is a car for the superrich (sic), government officials, etc." mostly because it's a sweeping statement that is generally untrue. A car that rings in for right at 6 figures new is hardly a car for the super-rich. The Corvette ZR-1 is over 100k. A stripper Bentley is a quarter mil, a Rolls north of 300k--those are cars for the super-rich or the extravagant. You've got well over 100k of rolling stock in your signature. Does that make you super-rich?
I'll agree that buying a W220 and owning a W220 are two different propositions in terms of cost. That's true of any premium automobile, so it's a straw man for an argument. If I wanted a car that was cheap to keep on the road, I'd own a Camry.
