So yeah, it's time for a new car. I have owned a window tinting shop for the last 14 years, and I have seen and driven EVERY single make and model car ever made come through here 10 times over. Quite a few Benz's for sure. NOT impressed with the C, CLK or ML cars at ALL. But the S cars are supposed to be different, right?
I have always loved the W220's, but I really need to know the areas to look for the problems. In short, I need your opinions, etc. I have my eye on one (2002) now for $17,700, at 77k miles. Silver/black, car looks clean. No leaks, no idiot lights, no issues (supposedly). Pretty loaded up, everything except no keyless go, which is fine with me.
I have always heard the horror stories (e.g. oh the air suspension failed, that's $5000, etc). Am I wrong in assuming that if the car has made it 77k with nothing major failing, it's probably NOT going to be in the lemon category? I am in the extremely EASY driver category, I have a DTS caddy now with 140k on it! I know in early 2000 when the S cars were new there were alot of issues (as with any new model)...are most of these lined out now for the most part? Is the S55 truly the car everyone says? How bad is the nav system, really? I want to do crystal lights, 18 inch rims, and maybe a rear visor. What do I need to check out on the car, where are the pitfalls? It seems from my research, it's a love/hate thing. Very little in-between!
Vin is WDBNG73J41A196212 if some of you expert posters have the means, can you look it up to find the exact options, etc?
If you own one, let me know if you like it, and why!! THANKS!!!
