Crazy C Class

I bought a 1995 C280 Emerald in August of 08 with 150k. Drove it to MS and it got me 30MPG! However, while I was there, I noticed it started funny one morning. I heard a popping sound from the air intake. I made it back to to TN with no problems. Then that's when it all started. During start up, the idle would rev up and down until I placed the car in drive then it would idle fine. I then took it to Mercedes and they advised me the MAF was bad. With 30 years of auto mechanic experience, I replaced it and still no luck. I then took it to an independent shop and they told me the wiring harness was bad. Replaced that for about $1500. They let me drive the car and still, the idle was horrible. Took it back to them and after replacing the ECM, PCM and throttle actuator, (all reman parts of course), it still ran horribly and after $3500, I went off on them and went back to where I bought it. I then spoke with the gentleman who sold me the car and he advised me to take it to a friend of his who just left MBZ and opened his own shop. After he shot the intake with smoke, we determined the boot to the actuator was busted, replaced it and the car ran 98% better. Then it kept running a code of 1170 for fuel trim. He replaced the MAF with NEW one instead of the reman one I bought from Orielly's and it cleared it up to run 99% better. Now I have two little problems, sometimes during cold start, it revs to 2500 RPMs and sometimes when I come to a stop it acts like it wants to die but doesn't. Any advice? I don't want to get rid of it because I have so much tied up into it already and it's a beautiful driving car. Replaced one of the 02 sensors as the downstream one looked new already. It's not running any codes and the CEL hasn't come on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
