Buying a 420 SEL

I am a new member posting for the first time. I have wanted to buy an older MB for as long as I can remember and am finally getting around to my first one. I am coming out of a newer Cadillac CTS sport and have enjoyed the car but am tired of leasing. I have just taken a 1991 w126 420sel to the shop for a inspection before a make an offer. Interior looks great and honestly has held up with time way better than the cts. Paint could use some help but I wanted a strong runner first. Records seem good but as second owner does not know if timing chains where done. It currently has 172,000 miles on it and compresion tested great. I am posting a few pics but would like some advice as to what I need to know. If this works well I know which one I am getting next. He is asking 3600 but i am sure i can come in around 3. Thanks for any and all advice.

Go ask in the W126 forum on this site. They know more.

Car has been repainted. Mileage is fairly high. Front headlight wiper is dead. Chrome strips above wheels may be covering rust or damage. Timing chain could easily let go and destroy the entire engine if it isn't done.

Thanks. I reposted in w126 forum. It looks orange here but is really bright red. If they repainted they did a hell of a job. Whole body must have been off. Cali and AZ car its whole life and has not a spec of rust i can see anywhere.
