Post Extended warranty

Hi,

I am about to purchase a Certified 07 MB R350.

1) Can some one tell me the price I have to pay for an extended warranty for an R350?

2) As KBB shows me the a value of ~26K for an 07 with 25K miles, I am really worried as the dealer is asking for almost 31K. I know there is room for negotiations. Can any one who might have recently purchased a certified R350 let me know a decent price to pay? I am looking for a P2 package.

Thanks!

1) I had to pay about $2k for a Mercedes two year/100K miles extended warranty for my 07 E550. This was on top of the original four year/50K warranty and the CPO one year/100K warranty. Because the car's in service date was in Nov 06, my warranties take me through Nov 2013. If you don't want the Mercedes extended warranty or want a longer warranty, you would need to find a company like Wynn's Extended Care. There are a lot of aftermarket extended warranty companies out there, but I don't have experience with them.

2) Where do you live? Prices vary by region. When I look at KBB retail pricing for an 07 R350 for my ZIP code in Northern California, I see $28,165. When I look at Cars.com for certified 07 R350s in my area, I see prices ranging from $30K to $32K. So it seems there's a discrepancy between KBB and what dealers are asking. But the price your dealer is asking seems to be the going rate for this area. Not that there isn't room to negotiate. There seem to be lots of R350s for sale, so if you shop around you could probably get a good deal.

Off topic slightly, but since I think Daimler is discontinuing the R-Class you should get a great deal on one. I also bought my E-Class as a CPO but paid too much (I didn't realize they are negotiable) to extend the warranty by 12 more months; the maximum due the age of the car. I might have been lucky because I got my money back plus some.

Has that been confirmed yet (discontinuation)? Certainly the sales volume has been very dismal...

Not that I have seen or heard as an official MB press release, or whatever.

I $2600.00 for a 100K extended warranty with no deductable for my 05 ML350. I think they should all be in the same price range, best thing to do is ask.

What is your problem? This forum is called "General Mercedes-Benz". If the original poster wanted exclusively R-Class feedback, he/she should have posted his/her question on the appropriate (R-Class) forum.
