Buying my first E class - Advice

I am currently shopping for my first E class and was hoping for some input from the forums. I currently have a 2004 C class and need another larger car for my growing family.

I am currently comparing a 2005 E-320 with a 2006 E-350 & 2006 E-350 4MATIC. All are similar low mileage, with same features (NAV, Sound, etc). The E-320 is several thousand less.

- Any key differences between 2005 / 2006 to consider?
- Any huge reason to go with the E-350 over the E-320?
- Advice regarding 4MATIC…reliability etc. (not in a heavy winter weather state)

Thanks in advance!

If you don't need 4Matic, skip it. If you live in Snowville, then get it.

If you can possibly budget an 07, go for that. 07 was the revised face-lift. The overall appearance and reliability of the car improved.

You are looking at a W211 and there is a forum devoted to those. Chances are you will get better, and more, feedback if you post your questions there. Just scroll down to the Sedans section and you should see it. Good Luck and welcome to the forum!

The 2005 E 320 is diesel ? Can't beat high speed cruising and still making 40 mpg
That wins hands down.
Welcome to the forum.

2005 E320 could be the old M112 V6 gasoline engine.
Replaced by more modern and more efficient M272 V6 in 2006 models.

Thanks everyone, I decided to go with the 2006 E350. After comparing the 320 (non-diesel) and 350 I found that it had the features I was looking for and a great price point. I appreciate the input and look forward to reading the forums.

My wife will now inherit my C240, and I will enjoy the ability to stretch out a bit more in my E-class. My lower back was beginning to loath the C-Class seats.

Best Regards.
