CPO cost question

does anyone know what the real cost to CPO a vehicle strictly for the additional warranty would be? i have a deal worked out and am happy with the numbers and everything but not the $2500 for CPO which only extends the warranty 1 additional year. I'm wanting to take the vehicle as is (I'll replace the tires, do the reconditioning etc.) and just buy the CPO warranty itself. i was told i could CPO the vehicle for 2500 and it would get new tires but i dont want all the reconditioning that comes with CPO just the extended warranty.

by law a dealer has to recondition the car per cpo. they can not just give you the warrenty for the fact that, mercedes isnt going to warrenty something that the dealer should have replaced prior to sale. all cars have to be inspected and returned to "new" condition before delivery. that 2500 is worth its weight in gold. considering it covers everything depending on the model of car that could just be a set of shocks or a transmission. you have to think about how much some repairs are. i know people that have opted out of the cpo warrenty and ended up with major bills a year later. had they spent the money for the cpo they wouldnt have had to shell out thousands of dollars later. think about it before you buy a mercedes

Just negotiate a lower price for the car. The CPO warranty is the best of its type.

ehhh... I'm at $19,200 on an 06 R350 w/32k miles thats practically loaded with the exception of dvd. I'll do the CPO...there was about $6-700 worth of things they were going to do to the car anyway...dent wizard, detail, new mats etc. the CPO will include all of that. I'll offer $1800 on the CPO as the car needs new tires anyways.
