Floor Mat Curl

My wife has 1999 E320 with original floor mats. They are in good shape, but have are starting to bunch up with several 'rolls' at the angled break where the floor and firewall meet. I can flatten them out and they return to the bunched position in a few days. This is more annoying and unsightly than anything else. I have tried ironing them with a warm iron, but no improvement. Any ideas?

Besides getting new one?
If you have the same problem I do -the stiffening backing on the mats broke and that is why they fold. I play attention when getting in to not roll them, but was thinking about gluing or stapling some stiffening plastic on the back.

I use the clips that came with them, that will keep them from riding up they are lke large mitten clips that you pin thru the carpet. Of course the car wash guys always mess them up. You can probably get some at your dealer from the new car prep guy, they never install them.

I take mine out several times a year, and lay them down on a clear floor, garage floor, etc and Shampoo them with my House Shampooer. ( Or you can Steam Clean them ).
Bottom side and the Top. It will make a huge difference in appearance, longetivity and personal health. Afterwards, I lay the Rugs out on the Floor, in the Hot Florida Sun and in a few hours they look amazing.
