Slightly overfilled transmission fluid

In over a year, my dear old 89 300C (142,000 miles) twice has had an odd release of transmission fluid while standing in the carport. When refilled it is now about 1/2 to one pint overfilled. Running fine and not leaking any longer. Do I need to have some of the fluid drained? I used Lucas transmission stop leak and about 1/4 pint of regular fluid as it showed empty on the stick.

On my car, the ATF level is pretty critical. Find the model-specific forum for your car and ask the owners there. You are much more likely to get a quick and accurate answer than you are in the General forum. Good luck and welcome to Benzworld.org.

Years ago I bought used W123 that had transmission overfilled by seller. It drove in the city just fine, but when I went on straight freeway about 20 miles later -the transmission fluid "boiled out" via the breathing tube. Splashing on the hot exhaust it made military-style camouflage smoke.
Scarred me to death, but after pulling over and checking what happened I drove it for thousands of miles without problems.
Sure you don't want to take chances with computerized transmissions, but I wouldn't exaggerate the danger.

Slightly overfilled transmission fluid

My car is running great even though the fluid level hasn't gone down. Guess the Lucas transmission leak actually works. Now all I need is to get the air conditioner fixed, any suggestions?
