Well,Mercedes certainly do have their own little quirks.
The funny thing that gets me is my best friends family have had at least one model or another of Mercedes on the road since at least the early to mid 1970's. It's the ONLY brand my friends father would drive in 20+ years and over a 1/2 million miles of driving/commuting to and from work.
Now I can and do understand people getting upset if they have a low mileage Mercedes that they paid a lot of money for not performing as it should.
On the other hand I read and hear people complain(not just mention it,but genuinely become pissed off) about really silly issues such as(I just made this up as an example only). "My P.O.S.,six owner, twenty something year old Benz with 200,000+ miles on it that I bought for $1,800 doesn't have a rear passenger window that works!" "What a P.O.S.,because at least ALL the windows worked in the Chevy sedan I bought with for $5,000 with 50,000 miles on it,of course once it hit 70,000 miles things started failing left and right and it died at 110,000mi,but well it wasn't a Mercedes now is it!"
I have had BOTH those types of vehicles and there is really no comparison. I'll take my 1989,200K+mi. 300E ANY day over a same cost or even slightly less expensive, newer year,100Kmi.,same class Chevy,Ford etc. sedan.
I think if you REALLY put the Mercedes Brand in context and in comparison(grade on a curve!) with just about any other vehicle manufacturer it's pretty clear that Mercedes overall track record of quality, durability PER MILES DRIVEN is at or very near the top.
