Red face New MB owner... the dream realized

HI there... the wife and kids have gone to bed and now I can indulge my new passion... my 2007 MB E320 CDI. This diesel is awesome, and I got a great deal the moment I started looking. In fact I had never driven a diesel until the test drive, and the experience was memorable.

So I am new to this, after three BMW's, three Nissans and two Volvos.

Two questions: what is the main thing I need to know about this new beast in my garage, and though it is a 2007 it is badged E320 CDI. Is this a Bluetec? Is there a difference? The torque and acceleration are as advertised as the Bluetec, but in reading through this and other blogs I am not sure I got what I thought I purchased!

Yes, I think that you bought what you think. Or at least I think so. Do you follow?

The E320 Bluetec for 07 is a really clean car. Are you sure it says "CDI?" If it is 07, then it should say Bluetec.

The main difference (Beside from the face lift) is the new 3.0 litre V6 replaces the I6 that was in the CDI. The CDI was also a very clean and modern car, however the Bluetec ups the ante.

The difference with the 08 is the addition of Urea (See here:BlueTec - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), which allows it to meet Very Stringent 50-State Bin 5 emissions requirements (And thus be sold in the People's Republic of California)

"It's Diesel-tastic"

Thanks... so I guess it is a Bluetec except that it is not in five states. I am in the midwest so I think I am safe. This car is amazing. Such a different feel, and no loss in performance despite great mileage. I cannot believe more folks don't go for diesels. I guess I won't return it to my dealer, even though I have a seven-day money-back policy to consider!
