Engine and electronic lights

Hi all. I have a 1997 Mereceds E420. I took to my daughter to drive for a couple of days and noticed that the coolant light came on and then shut off. She got back tonite and said that it was on when she started it but then shut off. Just before she got home the check engine light and check electronic lights came on. I checked the coolant and filled it up. Daughter said that the thermostat didn't register above normal. Thoughts and direction?

Hey, fl, welcome to the forum. You posted in the general forum, which is aimed at general points. When you get specific, it's better to set up in the forum that is specific to your car, which is the W210 forum. You can get to it by scrolling down the main forums page, then you'll see the sedans section, then you'll see the W210.

The first thing I would do is check for codes. If you don't have a code reader Autozone will read them for free, don't take their explanation but instead write down the codes they get and post them in the W210 forum and the folks there will be happy to give you a hand.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg
