Your link does not work for me.

In a nutshell, that's a later model W140 and the 4.2L 8-cylinder is a good engine but it sounds a little rough around the edges. First off, how many miles does it have and how much are they asking for it?

It sounds like it's been a bit abused. You might have to pay more, but I'd recommend looking for one in better condition.

Last but not least, as I said that is a W140. You might get more answers if you ask the actual owners on that dedicated forum. Just scroll down to the Sedans category and you will see it.

Good Luck!

Oh, O.K. Maybe that is not a very active forum, I'm not on there much. Thanks for posting the link again, I'll have a look and post again if I can add to my earlier comments.

That is a lot of miles but for $3450 I would consider buying it. Especially if you can fix the window regulators, rearview mirror and the sunroof yourself using salvage yard parts. Most dealers will take you to the cleaners for those. I suppose you can live with the cracked seats, but if I was considering that car, I would have everything brought back "up to snuff".

One thing of which you should be aware, and I know you said the A/C is working. The W140 series has a serious flaw with the evaporator. That is a 22 hour job to replace it because it is buried so deeply, at least that's what MB says the job is worth.

This car is a potential money pit and you'll never get back what you spend on it But that's OK if you really love the car, have the money to fix what's wrong, and plan to keep it for a long time. But if not, then it's better to take the money you were going to spend buying it along with the money you will spend fixing it, and buy a car that's already in good condition. It will save you a lot of grief.

Some call this model "THE last solid-built Mercedes"
I was even shopping around for one with diesel, but the 3.5 l diesels in those cars have been having the worse opinions in MB diesel fleet.
Any used MB is a car for DIY, since taking it to stealer will cost you several times the purchase price. Engines are good, but at this mileage I would do compression test. Window regulator and mirror is quite easy. I wouldn't care about opening sunroof, but would be concern about "good" AC.
Good luck
