newbie looking for advice...

Hey everyone...I am looking for advice on getting my first benz. I have found a 2000 SLK 230 coupe, that I am looking to get my wife. The asking price is right around 10k, and has 63k miles and good condition. I have also ran a carfax report and comes up clean. Can anyone shead some light on if this seems like a decent deal. Mostly, I want to make sure I could still get a few years out of this car. Thanks

Make sure that car really never happened to be involved in an accident. CarFAX is paid off. Lots of cases where the report looked clean but the car was involved in one! Besides that, if all maintenance has been performed properly and on time, seams to be a reasonable price I would say!

I will give you the same advice everytime this question comes up. Have a pre-purchase inpection done at a good independant mercedes shop. Make sure it is not the one the seller has work done at.
I did this when I bought my slk and was glad I did. Only minor problems came up, but I had a better idea of what I was getting into especially since I bought the car sight unseen. The slk is a great car. Fun to drive and easy to work on. There is a good R170 community here as well. Make sure the top works!
Good Luck with your purchase. Looking forward to some pictures.
