CuriousVibration at 60mph

A very curious thing happens to my 420SEL at 60mph. If I stay at that speed for some time, there is a stong vibration, in the front end and I am forced to hit the brakes or the gas to get off this speed. Any ideas what may be wrong?

Wheels are off balance or a rim is warped.

You have a problem with one or more tires. Find a lightly traveled road and have someone follow in another car. You want to do this on at least a four lane road. Have the people in the chase car watch your wheels. When the vibration is going on, they can see if one wheel is wobbling. If it is wobbling, you may have a bearing in that wheel going bad. If the rotation of the wheel is smooth but the tire is fluttering, you have a bum tire.

I would suspect a bad tire. You may have hit a pothiole and damaged the tread casing. As a result, the tire is separating. You need to correct this ASAP as this is the type of problem that will fail without notice, other than what you have now, and the tire will come apart.
