Thanks Fonzi, I will say my plans have changed since that post. I have really fallen in love with the euro styling of these cars and love that plain and simple clean look. Since 2008 I have acquired a second r107, a U.S. 1974 450SL. I needed something to drive around in while working on the project car lol.
The 74 was initially a parts car that turned into a driver.
The wife was a little concerned about bringing on a 8th car until I said look the top goes down, and you can drive it to the beach!!!
(I know it's a sickness, but it's all in clean fun.)
So I was side tracked by that car, then I built a B5 audi A4, sooo here we are 4 years later.... just pulled the project out of the garage to clean up and regroup.
Long story short, I am now going for a lightweight, clean euro look, with some AMG goodies. No fender flares or crazy racing gear. Glad I took some time off from the project and did not go down that road.
I have been slowly gathering parts as the project has been patiently waiting including:
AMG front spoiler
AMG steering wheel
16" BBS RA's (Mahle's)
3.07 Rear diff from an SLC
SLC 160mph speedo
Extra D-Jet/ K-jet heads and bits to do a mechanical lifter conversion to run earlier D-jet cams.
73 bumpers in OK shape with banana blinkers
Low mile complete K-jet long block and transmission all out of a SLC
