Transferring contacts from Nokia E61i

Hi

I have just bought a 2005 E320CDI and had the Telephone module with bluetooth installed. I have successfully paired my Nokia E61i mobile with the car 'telephone module' but it won't transfer my contacts from the mobile to the car 'telephone module'. Please can anyone advise.

Thank you.

Which BT adapter are you using? Are you from the US, Europe or somewhere else?

Also which head unit do you have in the car?

I am in the UK. The car has been installed with the Mercedes Benz blue tooth cradle and telephone module. Apologies, I am not sure I understand your question regarding BT adaptor? The connection is via bluetooth. Hope you can help

Thank you

If you are from the UK, you may have the BT HF adapter or the BT SAP adapter (that is the BT cradle). Do you have the adapter part number available or do you know which one it is?

Another way to figure it out: on your phone BT settings, do you have "remote SIM" active or not?

The remote SIM mode on my Nokia E61i mobile is set to 'On' in the Bluetooth settings.

I have removed the BT telephone module to identify the part number. It says on the back: BT ID: B03554

Next to the Mercedes logo there is another number:
B6 787 5877
08W41

I hope this helps?

Thanks

Some contradictory info above, the B6 787 5877 BT adapter should be for HF profile (a black device without a privacy handset).
Mercedes UHI and MHI Phone Cradles

With this device the phone should be set to "Remote SIM off". However I understood you had not only paired the phone but also have been able to place calls?

I have not used the BT HF device myself but I've understood that quite a few S60 version 6.1 phones only support phonebook transfer in BT SAP mode but I'd suggest searching more help or waiting for further replies from users who are familiar with this setup.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the device is black without a privacy handset. Are you saying that I perhaps have got the wrong bluetooth cradle to support my Nokia mobile (to transfer contacts) and that I would be better with a SAP one rather than an HF one?

Thank you.

I cannot say anything definite here because I have not used the HF profile adapter. I have neither used a Nokia E61i but the MB documents state that phone book download should work with a Nokia E61 in connection with the BT SAP adapter. The document covering compatibility with the BT HF adapter does not mention E61 or E61i, but this does not necessarily mean the phone would not work (phone book download, it must work otherwise).

A dealer having the device on stock might allow you to try the BT SAP adapter in your car with your phone.

One final question - Is it possible to type in contact details manually directly onto the memory of the car using the keypad within the car?

Thank you
