Question Backward rotation-damage?

What are the consequences of rotating the engine counterclockwise (backward). Will this damage the engine? During valve adjustment, rotation was turned backward several rotations. Can I just proceed adjusting valves with clockwise rotation, or has the error created problems that should be addressed before continuing valve adjustement and statring the engine?

Its not adbisable, but as long as you can return it to where it was , it shouldn't be a problem.

If you rotated it backwards by hand, you probably have not damaged anything, but as noted it's definitely NOT advisable.

Before you proceed with adjusting the valves, I would turn it over in the proper direction a couple of full revolutions to ensure tension and slack are in the correct order again. You could do that after as well, just make sure you do it before you start the engine, otherwise the sudden jerk on everything could have less than desirable consequences.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
