Hello From the Hudson Valley, New York
I'm a newbie MB owner, just puchased a 92 300CE that lived it's previous life in LA, CA. I receieved all the original doc's, including the window sticker, what an awesome car this is. 16 years old with 135K and drives like a new car. (added bonus, no rust anywhere on this car, really, and it was worth the $800 to ship it back to NY, just to get a rust free LA Benz)
It has a few minor things to fix, but I'm looking forward to challenge. Already gathering up all the original Equip. parts for the euro headlight change, expensive, but I want to keep authenic parts in it rather than the aftermarket options.
I'm going to install the Bosch euro headlights without the euro wipers, just waiting for the blank filler plates to be delivered and painted.
In case I do decide someday to retrofit the euro headlite wiper assemblies, can anyone tell me what years and models of American Market W124s, (or others), would have been equipped with headlight wiper motors that would work on the euro headlights? I think I read somewhere that 94 or 95 w124s may have euro style wiper assemblies.
I do have other questions about my needed minor fixes, but I'll look for a better place in the forums here to post those questions.
Final note, I'm a former Corvette owner, (3 times), and now that the kids are finally out, I started shopping around for a play toy, and after some sticker shock for the older models, I started looking at older Benz and did a lot of research. I still can't beleive I was able to find this model-year so reasonable, even with the shipping. The driving pleasure is not even comparable to the older Vetts I had, this old 300 CE has got it all, class, enineering, and a ride that I've never experianced before. Those older Vettes I owned drove like tanks, compared to this 300CE.
Sadly I'll have to start leaving it in the garage soon, as winter is approaching, with all the evil salt trucks running around..lol This car will never see a saltly road..... So it's back to my Subaru soon... hmm when is the first day of spring next year?? lol
