OBD1 & OBD2 SCANNER. WHERE IS THE PORT?

I have a OBD scanner that is OBD1 & OBD2 capable. I use this scanner to read and help diagnose my other vehicles. I have a 1994 S500 Sports Coupe that I would like to read the codes on. I am unsure in fact if I can do this with the scanner I have. Seems I can since, this scanner is considered still new. I have been unsuccessful in finding any diagnostics ports except for the one under the hood on the passenger side of the car. This port is round and has several prongs. I am used to seeing the diagnostics port to be flat and rectangular(ish) in shape. My guess is that I need the cord or adapter for Mercedes. Can anyone verify this and know where I can purchase this adapter, if his is in fact the solution to my question. Thanks everyone!

I don't think OBD11 will work on a 94, 96 and newer. The plug should be under the dash on the driver side.

In 94 Benz used the round 38 pin connector and so you will need an adapter. The more modern models use the smallers 16 pin located within reach of the drivers seat, as per OBDII regulations.

What is the make of test equipment you have?

ERIC.

Yeah, I have pulled everything out from the driver's seat area, nothing to be found. Which is why i thought it would have been the port under the hood.

It is the port under the hood, and you need a 38 pin adaptor but I don't know if innova make one for this?
