NO IT WASN'T...it was another way of saying "Cheap people don't own Mercedes Benz". Just because I choose not to give CARFAX my money doesn't mean I cant afford a MB, I just choose WHERE I want to be cheap!!
And if its such a "no-no"...why isn't such stated in this forum's Rules?

I think your confused about "these types of posts". My asking someone to run one VIN number
as a favor is very different from someone purchasing an unlimited CARFAX account, then posting a thread offering to run VIN numbers and provide reports for five-bucks-a-piece. Read the text below, paying close attention to the red portion.
From the CARFAX website... "This 30 day Unlimited CARFAX Reports Plan is valid for 30 days from the date the first report is run, and is intended for my personal use only. Commercial use, resale and redistribution of CARFAX Reports is strictly prohibited. "Commercial Use" is defined as use by persons engaged in the business of researching, buying and/or selling of automobiles, the resale or redistribution of Reports, or any other business purpose as determined by CARFAX, Inc."
The fact is, if I ask a fellow MB owner on a forum to do me a "favor" and run a CARFAX on his account for me (whether it be online or at his house), and he does so for FREE...then that constitutes PERSONAL USE!!
I promise you, CARFAX doesn't give a rat's ass about one guy asking for one free report. Even if they DID decided to send a "nastygram" regarding my thread, the forum admin could tell CARFAX to go pound sand up their ass, and there's nothing they could do about it. The only threat they have is to close the account...and there is no way CARFAX could even link the CARFAX account to an anonymous username on a web forum.
If the film and record industry, and software giants like Microsoft cant shut down websites distributing pirated material...little 'ol CARFAX and their "narcs" are just gonna have to SUCK IT!!
