I have Jayhawk's package--including the natty gloves. I found a vendor at a flea market selling almost those same gloves for a buck a pair, so I bought a handful and stuck them in the tire well. If you've ever changed a MRZ tire, you know those gloves are the most valuable thing in the tool kit.
The general advice is correct; if you had a complete set of tools you'd still need the diagnostic tools to figure out what to fix. If you can't fix it with a screwdriver or a pair of pliers on the road, it's beyond being fixed on the road--it needs a garage.
