It seems that when a person is young, they drool over a car that is beyond them, probably because of the cost. The 450SL was my 'drool-over' car. Now that I'm older, I still love the look and design of this car, and so I finally bought one a few years ago. Actually, I bought an 450 SLC, which was driven for awhile, but now it has issues (loses power after awhile running). It is just sitting in the carport for the moment. I then decided to buy a second Benz, which ran well until my son decided to run it out of oil on the freeway. It now sits on the back of the property pretending to be an overgrown planter. Recently, I was lucky to be given the opportunity to buy the next one from my aunt who had owned it for 25 years. This one run well, and is in pretty good shape on the surface (I'm sure if you delved more deeply, you'd come up with all sorts of faults, but it looks quite nice) I don't have the time now, but someday, I'll take her apart and rebuild her, and give her a face lift. But, that may be in another life.
