Yes, it will fit. But why in the world would you order such a common easy-to-find item all the way from Hong Kong?

and to take it one step further, OEM box shown in the photo notwithstanding, coming from HK, how are you going to be sure it is not a "knock off"...?

I'm with the others: I would buy one from a dealer or reputable MB parts supplier. I think the odds are in favor of it being a cheaply made imitation.

Thanks for replies - the car is 1999 ... C180 Classic

I risk being banned on my first post by admitting that I don't know what W202 etc. means

sorry - this is my first Mercedes ... I have always put off buying one as I knew that once I got one, I would not drive anything else again.

I am in Ireland and the reason I looked at EBAY after the Star being ripped from the car last night - is because a guy told me that it costs 150 euro to replace ... it is the weekend so I could not check with dealers etc. - maybe he was talking about doing it with a main dealer - and that they hammer you for fitting etc.

He told me that he has had 5 ripped from his cars over the years.

I think this is a great car ... brilliant on petrol/milage - sturdy - safe ... not a fast driver as most roads in Ireland only go to 60 mph speed limit ... 72 in rare stretches ... waste of money for people paying for fast cars here. Thanks again.

No worries about being banned, all of us were new once upon a time. Congratulations on your 1st Mercedes and welcome to the forum!

One alternative to having the star torn off would be to consider buying a MB medallion that sits flush with the bonnet. Short of taking a screwdriver to it, they are very difficult to steal. The medallion doesn't have the same impact as the star, so you may prefer to risk replacing the star periodically.

Welcome to the forum! Hardly anyone knows much when they get here, but the combination of reading and learning and working with the car you bought will bring you up to speed in no time.

Oh, and I lived in Dublin twice, so I'm with you on the roads not being up to high speeds. That's especially the case out the West where you're liable to crest a rise to find a herd of sheep standing in the road, eh?

DrJfrmLA made a good point. In case you didn't know, the AMG models come with the flat badge aka medallion. They fit into the same place/hole with very little effort.
