German automobile collector clubs

This weekend, there was a British Car Show locally. It got me to thinking (and now my head hurts), I think I saw a German Car Club once. Does anybody know if there is one in the S.W. Indiana area? Possibly in the tristate area defined by S.W. Indiana, S.E. Illinois, and Western Kentucky. It would be nice to meet other people and get ideas on repairs to "Maybell". Possibly swap extra parts. M-B marque clubs or general German auto clubs.

Mercedes-Benz Club of America. The 500 Section is quite active.

Ditto to MBCA. You just missed it (Sept. 14th) but the Central Ohio Section of MBCA has a German car show in Columbus during the late summer. You'll see Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Volkswagen, and last year I saw a Mercury Mercur. You can use this link to find them: Mercedes-Benz Club of America Central Ohio Section

I don't have the option of travel. Between an elderly parent that I'm a primary care giver for and an elderly dog that doesn't kennel well, I'm pretty well stuck with day trips. I used to go to the Mopar Nationals but they moved to Columbus and are now out of range. I can get to Louisville and maybe St. Louis but that's about it.

OK, I didn't know how far you were from Columbus or about your other constraints. I'm in Louisville quite often because my girlfriend lives there (200 miles from me). I have never heard of any shows there, but there are a lot of German cars I've seen driving around and there is a good dealer called Tafel Motors that I have used. Cincinnati has a MBCA chapter too but I've heard they are not very active, at least compared to the Columbus one.

It was just a thought anyway. I've had several SL owners locally contact me but most of them have swapped in a Chevy engine and drivetrain. I'm happy with the M-B setup and if it needs repair, it'll get repaired. Somehow a Chevy engine in a Mercedes is just wrong.

Ditto to that! A Chevy engine/drivetrain in an SL-series? Yuk
