New Owner Again
Hi all! I am happy to get my 3rd Benz yesterday, a 2005 c320 coupe. The others were a 1971 250 sedan and a 1986 420SEL which I adored. Other than building an in - ground pool in Pittsburgh, my other dumb move was replacing the 420 in 1999 with 50k miles when I retired to FL. I then bought a 1999 Chevy Tracker so I could ride on the beach, which has happened only once. As I said...DUMB!
Anyhow, while studying the manuals I noted that this 320 is flex-fuel capable, but that running E85 results in reduced performance and MPG.
The manual says premium OR E85 ONLY(!).
It seems to me that if it can run on ethanol it should be able to handle lower octane gas as well. Any thoughts anyone?
My '97 cadillac required premium but ran fine on regular and I read recently that the new V-8 Hyundai Genesis pumps out 375 HP on Premium and 368 HP on Regular, implying that loss of power was the only drawback.
Thanks for listening.
