Perspective MB Owner
I am a perspective buyer of a MB. I have been scouring the web looking for resources and information and a friend of mine recommended your forums. I have always been a fan of German cars, though I do not currently own one.
Recently,I have been seriously looking into buying an MB. I was originally looking into the 08-09 C350, when a unique opportunity presented itself.
A family friend offered to sell me his fully loaded 2000 S500, with 41K miles, for $14,000. The car has a completely clean carfax and it has been garage kept and only serviced by the dealer (he has all the records). He was going to trade it in to buy a new S550, but the dealer offered him $12.5K for it. He know I was looking for a car so he offered it to me for a little more.
I have done the research and the price seems fair. I have seen others with approximately the same mileage fetch up to 18-21K.
The question I have for you gents is.....is it worth it?
I realize a car is a depreciating asset, and not a "fiscally wise" investment to begin with, but as a driver and an enthusiast is it worth it?
The S-Class is much more of a car than the C. I realize its older, but Its also an Icon.
As a side note, I am familiar with the high price of dealership maintenance (both of my parents have own(ed) MBs) and I was considering buying an extended warranty.
