HID Issue - Please Help!!

Whats up guys? I just recently bought new headlights and an HID kit. I got the kit installed, and like most other people I've talked to I'm having some issues when the engine is turned on.

When my engine is turned on, the lights flicker and will go out, then come back on. I know its because they run at a lower wattage than the stock ones and I need to take it to Mercedes, but here is my problem. I have 2 locations within 75 miles, one says I was lied to and they cant switch it to XENON=PRESENT, the other wants to charge me $150 to do it! I've read where some people had it done for free

My friend has came up with an idea (he is an electrician), he wants to ground out the negative power wires, then connect the 2 positive wires and run them to my battery and through a toggle switch. Will this harm my car? Would it be easier and/or safer to do a resistor?

Please, any suggestions would be great. Its been over a week since I've been able to drive at night

...I drive a 2001 Mercedes C320 if that helps any.

It would be safer to use OEM head lamp units, but it would be a lot more expensive.

I already have the headlights and HIDs installed. I would take it to my dealer, but the one that said they will program didnt guarantee me it would work so I dont want to waste my $150.

Didn't really get much out of that link you gave me, sorry. What did I miss?
