Hello to everyone. My wife, Judy, has been trying to convince me that I should find her a convertible. Please don't distain but she dearly wanted a PT Cruiser convertible because she had 2 Cruiser in the last 5 years and loved both.
I wasn't very interested in keeping Chrysler alive with my contribution to their overhead, ie, buying a new PT Cruiser Convertible.
Quite by chance I was off from the office on an errand and noticed a Black Mercedes Convertible on the used car lot. About 5 or 6 days later I mentioned the car and asked if she would be interested. She said "Yes" and the rest is sort of history.
Thus, 2 weeks ago we purchased a 2000 black on black CLK 430 AMG Convertible. She loves it and so do I(when I get a chance to pry her fingers off the steering wheel).
Driving the 430 is like a sportscar on railway tracks. What a rush.
We're finding little issues as we get used to the car. We could really use some help in discovering how to remove the inside windshield post coverings to properly install the door/window gaskets. I think that the covers have been removed in the recent pass (replace a windshield?) and the gaskets were not properly re-installed. As a result of this issue, when the windows are closed the window hits the gasket before reaching proper extension and reverses approximately 1". I'm pretty sure that this problem is caused by the gasket intruding on the window space. Any help would be appreciated.
In closing the vehicle is great and I know that we are going to have a whole lot of fun with it.
