Help!! Check Engine Light on!!!

I had my 1997 E320 for 2 years now and it never gave me a problem. Til a few days ago, I went and had a scan done and I got 2 codes come up. Codes= P0130 & P0410. What i was told by the guy who checked it for me is that it can be a variety of things( sounds like he's just ready to rip me off) So what I would like to know is this a super sensative issue or one that i can indulge in myself, I'm pretty good at fixing minor problems. Please Help me from falling into the " IT'S GONNA COST YA " trap cause the car is still riding fine but I don't want to cause any more damage then there may already be.

I believe the first code is for your air filter. Have you done a "search" on the forum with those codes?

Hey, baun1, welcome to BW.

If you scroll down the forums page to the sedan sections, you'll see the W210 forum, which is specific to your car. At the top of that forum you'll see a series of "help" stickies and in there pick the one for there you'll find a post that lists all the late-model DTCs so you can find it.

Take care and I'll see you in the 210 forum,

P0130 O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1, open circuit bef cat right)
P0410 Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction

You can do a search for more information. If it is your O2 sensor(s), change them!!!! If not your vehicle will run rich and you can have additional costly repairs.

First off, check your rubber vacuum lines coming out of the valve cover area and in front of the head under the black cover.

Chances are one is cracked, usually the red one.

Replace it with a comparable rubber line.
